The first African American President Barack OBama was sworn into office a few hours ago. My parents were actually in the audience to see this momentous occasion live; each in their early sixties braving the cold, crowds, and congested metro while I was experiencing it in the heated Bonnie student center with the mid lunch rush. So not to get on some insanely long, redundant, and disorganized rant, I will keep it at this:
President Obama speaks a big game that realistically will not be met within his first four years. When he talks of new hope and policies that seem to some too idyllic and naive, I understand it as a profession of character and good moral fiber; when he wakes up every morning it's comforting to know that the man I entrusted my only vote to will do his part to stand firm in his values and opinions, more similar than not of my own, on: bipartisan peace, unity, war, family, affordable healthcare for all, compassion for the working poor, and monetary support of the evangelical Christian body etc. when faced with having to make difficult decisions. If his campaign ends up to have been just a facade, happening where his actions do not add up to his words- openly do I admit that Presidnet Obama convinced me-the failure of one man, who is just as much a sinner as I, would not cause my belief in those values to waiver because, just as Obama proved, one person can make a change!

I'm liking the inauguration post :) Though I refuse to commence any political conversations.
ReplyDeleteTip though?
Since your career choice is pretty close time mine :p I'd suggest being more journalistic and documentative with your writing. There'll be some projects where you'll need to present daily accounts or research within independent work and newspaper work, and good storytelling/writing skills are a must.
And what better place to practice than here!
Photoj's always have good blogs.
Hope that helps!

You always got my back! <3
ReplyDeleteI have the perfect first mini essay that will require a more journalistic approach to writing and story telling (once my camera battery arrives I will be able to post it)
The posts I have written so far are just my own mumblings and not meant to be taken as journalistic writing.
But as you said this is just about the perfect place to practice! and will make a point from now on. :)
how was the inauguration day...???though I watched it on TV...looked amazing....!!
