went running today, as usual, and experienced a burn/sharp pain right below my patella. what the crap. sigh. it had been bothering me a little earlier this week with an occasional pop while walking to class...but i just thought it was because i was pushing myself too hard. this time the pain started before my muscles were even close to tire. obviously, i changed my game plan to a brisk pace at an incline focusing on how i placed my feet (I don't really pronate all that bad) with even distribution of weight.
Haven't even had my shoes that long...this is ending the 3rd summer with them. dang i don't have the money for new shoes.haha whine whine whine.
guess i will try to fix it with some home remedies like changes in diet, stretches, and warm up/cool down. idk. i really thought i was taking better care of myself than this- focusing on how my muscles felt that day instead of the quantitative goals like cals burned and speed/distance- totally disappointed and annoyed right now.

nope not shin-splints- unfortunately (i know a little rest can cure those). the pain is confined to my left knee area only, and the sharp pain has now turned into a dull burn- which makes sense since it is my dominant side. also, after examining my shoe more closely, my tendency is to under-pronate. Im trying to teach myself not to heel-strike anymore...blah.
ReplyDeletethanks-i've never gone to a physical therapist before...hm. maybe i can a senior sports therapy major to give me a free evaluation :P
