flashback

This memory came to me while i held a kick board over my head and on my back in the water and not when on the treadmill earlier.
It was on the high school band trip to Disneyland. Right after the park announced that in 5 minutes all the lights on rides and vendors would be shut off for the fire work show did the group I had spent the whole day wandering around with with realize that we were on the opposite side of a the park to where we were told to meet the rest of the school .
One of the girls I was with was on varsity cross-country track team. One of us suggested that we get as far as we could walking while another person (honestly, can't recall who it was) mentioned that if we ran, we could probably make it.
We agreed to let the cross country runner book-it to our band teacher and tell her where the rest of us were and that after the show we would meet up with everyone. And for some other reason I asked if I could run there with her.
She smiled and just said "well...Im not going to slow down for you."
The two of us sprinted. It probably wasn't even that far. It was less effort for her, obviously, but I managed to stay on her heels and arrive and stand next to her as she explained where everyone else was.

Just now- a shared Laugh with a door to door green peace person-
"you know you sound like a Sister when you said 'unemployed and broke as a joke.'"
