Been Awhile-Stream of C update

Finally have internet at the apartment. it's a weird thing having "everything" one needs less than a mile apart within a 2 mile radius. Cobble stone sidewalks do horrible things to people's joints. finally am i in a community where dogs are favored among cats- everyday i meet a new breed- love it! "What type of dog do you own?" is a common question that follows right after formal name introductions. While charging up a hill during my afternoon run i heard a woman call out to me " did you steal the houses when the tremmored??!" On my last mile home i saw several more people on their porches exchanging worried looks. When i asked fellow pedestrians if they too had felt the supposed earthquake they all answered "no." with a look of concern. For a minute my imagination had a free for all and told me that all the pipes in everyone's houses were bursting because of some unexplained change in the atmosphere orrrrrr that the apocalypse finally occurred orrrrr that giant cicada like bugs were edging their way to the surface of the planet orrrr that i had some how damaged my inner ear. My mother called 3 hours after the earthquake to ask if i was ok. lol.
trying this new no-snacking in between meals lifestyle_i might make it 3 days at best. if i buy a bike i live off of cereal and canned food for he next 2 months.

In separate instances, recently, several people have mistaken my indifference to causes and situations for lack of awareness...it's annoying and quite the contrary- i choose to be indifferent because i have assessed the cause to be not worth my energy and/or thought. i've got to have more give. guh.
also, calling me at mid night wanting to talk through an existential crisis is one thing...if you call claiming to have an existential melt down and then proceed to belittle me and judge me for not joining your pity party i will call you an ass and hang up.

  1. Do you have a bike collective anywhere near you? Most of the collectives have earn-a-bike programs or will sell you a bike for cheap and then teach you how to take care of it. (Then you'd have money left over for proper groceries!)

Yes, I know you have school/work, but you could also consider the volunteer breaks (if you go that route) an investment in your sanity. I know I do ;-) If you need/want help finding a collective, just let me know!

  2. Of course, the more obvious comment would be: I'm glad you're okay after yesterday's earthquake. (Sometimes I miss the obvious entirely ...)
