young memories/notes

Before I forget yesterday and today:
  • The elderly man with the baseball cap and old windbreaker with a broken zipper, who was blind, helped his friend in the trench coat and beat-up running shoes with a plastic hand onto the d2 bus at 11:45 pm.
  • I taught a precocious 6 year old on the metro his one times tables in exchange for a joke: What do you call a girl that catches fish?*
  • mental note-do not drunk post.
  • After finally mustering enough courage to give some one my number, i blacked out while writing down and now fear my dyslexia got the best of me....
  • Staple food items like bread, eggs, and milk are usually always cheaper at target then large grocers.
  • I am awful at selling fancy $400 watches. justification- unless you run tri-athelons, log 25+ miles a week running/walking, or have a heart condition...I think they are wholly a waste of money. (we got cheaper versions that technically do the same thing for all intensive purposes).
  • At work, today, I correctly guessed which state a fellow employee is native to just from the way she pronounced certain words, phrased "common" observations, and cadence/delivery/song of how she held the conversation. She was from Rhode Island.
  • It never hurts to wear fancy pants when sitting in a coffee shop after work_ first impressions. Without knowing it until the end of a stimulated conversation did he tell me he was President of a major non profit here in DC. soft copy resume-sent :)
  • Summer Photo Study idea- Children who spend majority of their Sat/Sun in laundromats.
  • No one, is ultimately holding me accountable except for myself. I don't think that highly of myself, so...this is and has been an interesting first 3 months without grades (gauging productiveness_days go slow while weeks evaporate faster than morning dew on a sunny day-how??)
  • bahahaha the "typical" D.C. accent and slang is starting to incorporate itself into my daily speech pattern and vernacular. my mother, brother, and co workers called me out on it.
  • I end house sitting in georgetown this week- boo. Wisconsin ave became nauseating after my 1st week here...now i know 4 ways to get to the house that all avoid the crowded street and loud banners in shop windows.
  • I fucking love walking.
  • Once I am completely healed i want to start training for tough mudder race. (if you read this and for some reason remember me posting this later in a future post talking about running-hold me to this bucket list goal.) Actually, running races in general would be an awesome excuse to travel.
  • 2 older men asked to take me out to dinner...what the heck.
  • i sent my first "please don't contact me again" txt message.
  • i cried in public the day i told this person that for now i have no patience for them and to not contact me again until they were ready to take other people's feelings seriously, mine included. only children hold on to relationships and things that are not good for them. learning to prune is a life long lesson i think.
  • After living here a month by myself i realize i eat about $120 worth of food- i ate out about 4 times. So far I am making enough a month at work to live in a group house (which would be awesome) but not enough to afford food or public transportation...bah. almost.
  • the numeric pant size system at U.O. is a pain in the royal butt. Yay for $20 pants that were originally $60.
* a net. :D
