Straight and Sleazy

"CVS. Stop being Sleazy! Make condom access Easy!"
The rally took place on June 11 with National Organization of Women (NOW); Advocates for Youth; ACT UP; Latino Commission on AIDS; Black Women for Wellness; Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project (CHAMP), and many more to take a stand together in order to raise awareness of the racist practices of CVS.
In a recent survey, CVS was found to have been locking condoms in more African Amercian and Latino communities than White. The survey looked at more than 2,200 stores across the United States where in 19 out of 21 markets locked condoms up.
Condoms are community health tools that prevent the spread of AIDS- the number one killer of African Amercian women ages 25-34; the Latino American rate of infection tripples that of White Americans. Locking the condoms up supports the stigma that already surrounds the issue and for some, causes unnecessary anxiety when having to ask a pharmicist to unlock the condoms whereafter they are watched by the pharmicist and a paid gaurd as they pick which ones they want out of the vast array offered. Imagine how much more difficult it would be in having to ask to unlock the condoms if your first language is not English.
These rallies are happening all across America this summer in order to make sure the public can decide on their own what they want to do to stop the injust racism CVS is supporting.

Currently, CVS was also caught selling expired products to everyone- baby formula, over the counter medications, and food.
